This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the Master of Social Work (MSW) program at Oakwood University. Students explore the university’s rich legacy, with a focus on key historical figures who have made significant contributions to the African American community and the Seventh-day Adventist Church. In addition to this historical and cultural grounding, students develop essential academic and professional skills, including time management, scheduling, and task prioritization to support success throughout the program. The course also includes a brief introduction to Field Education, a core component of the MSW curriculum. Students gain an overview of field placement expectations, hours requirements, and the process for securing placements.
