RL 311: Hebrew I

This introductory course in Biblical Hebrew, emphasizes the mastery of basic grammar in a two- semester sequence (RL 311 and RL 312). Students develop basic vocabulary and the ability to translate simple passages. Laboratory work is required.

RL 312: Hebrew II

RL 313: Greek III

This course uses the linguistic similarities between English and New Testament Greek grammars toward the mastery of the morphology and the syntax of New Testament Greek. Students develop usable vocabulary and the ability to translate simple passages. It emphasizes the application of Greek grammar to the understanding of the biblical text. Students develop the ability to translate selected passages with the aid of reference tools. Special emphasis is given to the value of Greek in the practice of ministry. Laboratory work is required. Prerequisite for RL 313 and RL 212.

Special emphasis is given to the value of Hebrew in the life of faith, ministry, and biblical scholarship.

RL 415: Topics in Biblical Languages

This course introduces students to a selected study of pre-advanced Greek or Hebrew, textual criticism, or other Biblical languages (Aramaic, etc.) The topics covered will be selected by the instructor.
