PE 305: Theory of Coaching & Officiating Athletic Contest

This course focuses on professional philosophies and professional requirements for officiating and coaching sports. It provides coaches, and future coaches, knowledge and understanding of the techniques and theory of coaching interscholastic athletics. Upon completion of the course, students can take the fundamentals of coaching certification exam to be eligible to coach multiple sports in the state of Alabama. This course covers officiating volleyball, football, basketball, soccer, baseball, and softball. Upon completion of the course students are afforded the option of taking certification exams for any of the sport components and becoming a restricted certified official with the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) at the middle/junior high school level.
