This course is an analysis of the nature of oppression from a historical and social structural perspective. The social and interpersonal contexts of oppression, identity formation issues, racism and discrimination, and powerlessness among diverse groups are explored. Implications for social work practice on the micro, mezzo, and macro levels are examined and analyzed for effective intervention, and contemporary analysis.
